Youth Enrichment
Youth enrichment is one of the main components of Community Education. We offer after-school, evening and some weekend youth enrichment programs. These programs are open to all youth in the Chelsea School District, and also to youth who reside outside of the District boundaries.
We are continuing to work on returning youth enrichment programs as quickly and responsibly as possible.

Adult Enrichment
Adult enrichment with Community Education means evening and weekend programs for adults of all ages and interests. These programs are open to residents of the Chelsea School District, and also to adults who reside outside of the District boundaries.
At this time, we are not able to offer in-person adult enrichment programs. Continue to check the registration page for open for adult enrichment programs! If there are programs that we do not offer and you wish we did, we would love to hear from you!

Camp Gabika
GABIKA: Grand Activities with Bold Imagination and Kinship in Adventure.
Our outstanding staff lead campers through our summer of fun, engaging activities and games. Campers participate in weekly activities including sports, games, arts, crafts, local walking trips, outdoor and indoor activities, off site field trips and front yard field trips, visiting local parks and businesses, cooking and gardening with seniors, Chelsea District Library Book Mobile Visits, Martial Arts with Chelsea ATA, cooking with local guest chefs. Campers will be able to participate in water activities to cool off at camp such as Water World, sprinklers, water games, and field trips to a splash park.
- Camp will be open Monday, June 12 – Friday, August 16 (closed July 4-5) and is available to campers completing Young 5’s or Kindergarten through 5th Grade.
- The camp day is 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., with before care available from 7:30 - 8:30 a.m. and after care 4:30 - 5:30 p.m.
- Camp rates are $276 for full week registration or $64.26 per day (only daily rate is available during weeks of June 12-14 and July 1-3)
- Before and after care registration is $5.50 each per day
- Campers are required to register for a minimum of 2 days per week and at least 2 weeks during the summer
- All schedule changes require at least 30 days’ notice and schedule change fees will apply after May 15th. Refunds will not be issued without 30 days’ notice.
- After May 15th, registration is available depending on staffing and available space by contacting the Community Education office communityed@chelseaschools.org 734-433-2200, ext. 6300.
- What campers need to bring each day: Open mind, imagination, respectful and positive attitudes. Packed lunch, water bottle, comfortable closed-toe walking shoes, and sunscreen.

Super Saturday
We hope to see you for Super Saturday 2023! Our tentative dates will be February 25, March 4, 11, and 18.
What is Super Saturday? Chelsea Community Education's 4-week Super Saturday program offers children preschool through sixth grade an opportunity to explore new interests and activities without a big time commitment. Classes run on Saturday mornings, and meet during the hours of 9:00, 10:00 and 11:00 a.m. Children may participate in one, two or three classes.
Super Saturday classes should not be a child's first classroom experience. Parents may wait in the cafeteria while their child is attending an activity. Classes offered in are listed below:
Pre K - K Classes

Come meet, see, and touch some animal friends. Week one will have some feathered and fuzzy friends, to be followed up the next week with Terrific Turtles. Week Three will slither in with Snakes Alive, and for the Grand Finale we'll find out What's for Lunch...for the critters. Otherwise called, come to the Feeding Frenzy!
Bricks 4 Kidz: EngineeringAdventures

So you want to be an engineer or architect? Well what are you waiting for? This is your chance! Join us as we put our engineering skills to the test to build bridges, buildings, vehicles and more. We’ll learn about different types of careers for you to explore. Do you like to design cities? You might become an urban architect one day! Do you want to build bridges? Then civil engineering might be the job for you! Want to design the next cool electric car? Then you may be destined to become an automotive or mechanical engineer! Come experience engineering adventures with us!

This Super Saturday program is all about hands-on crafts for kids who prefer more physical forms of art. Craft projects include papier-mache, recycled materials creations, tissue paper, and much more! Each Saturday, your child will enjoy creative adventures that will spark their natural curiosity and develop their own journey of exploration and discovery.
Fun With Foods

Get creative in the kitchen with fun foods that will excite your imagination and make your tongue say "Yum!" Each week learn basic kitchen etiquette and food prep as you explore a combination of healthy and sweet recipes for fun-themed snacks.
Gymnastics

This activity offers the opportunity to learn beginning gymnastics skills. Participants will practice tumbling and other floor routine skills while improving balance, coordination and strength. The balance beam and the uneven bars will be introduced as well. Please wear comfortable clothing.
Little Tigers Tae Kwon Do

Little Tigers is designed to explore and develop body awareness, flexibility and coordination. The program utilizes tested and proven methods to increase attention spans, focus and physical control in young bodies. Children will gain an understanding of balance and strength while concentrating on the importance of being physically fit. Specially designed activities and exercises will teach priceless life lessons of integrity and discipline, and personal safety.
Mad Science
Mad Science of Detroit
Each workshop is an interactive, age-appropriate exploration of a specific science topic. From air, our animal friends and butterflies to water, weather and worms, each themed program is designed to captivate the curious nature of young children. Students enjoy engaging demonstrations, perform simple experiments and will discover how science can help us better understand the world around us! In each class, children are encouraged to give science a try. The Jr. Scientists even get to take home their science experiment to continue the learning all week long!
Music Exploration

This class will include singing, movement, and instrument playing as well as imaginative music games. As a special treat, we'll learn a new "Hello" song with American Sign Language! Each class will be tailored to meet the specific age group.
Sports Sampler

This PreK and K sports class will introduce a variety of age appropriate exciting games and activities. There will be some minor work on skills, but the majority of the time will be learning through play. You won’t want them to miss the non-stop excitement! Each week a new theme is featured and will teach new activities for the whole family to enjoy! There will be a variety of challenges that will keep everyone moving and having fun!
Young Yogis
Breathe Yoga
Developing strong bodies and calm minds, this energizing class for young yogis introduces children to the many benefits of yoga and lays the foundation for developing a lifelong practice for ongoing well-being. Through creative, flowing sequences, playful yoga games, and soothing relaxation techniques, kids will build balance, flexibility, and self-esteem in a non-competitive setting, which in turn promotes a valuable sense of community and compassion towards others. Boys and girls will need their own mat for class.

Classes include: Bugz!, Kitchen Chemistry, Movie Effects, Science of Toys, Earthworks, and Detective Science.
Magical Mystery Adventure

Join Jeff Boyer for an hour of magical illusions. Kids will turn common household items such as string, paper, money, and cards into magic tricks right before your eyes. Impress your friends and family with your new tricks – don’t tell them how you do it!
Mini Dragons Tae Kwon Do

This program was developed to pinpoint different skill levels and give individualized attention to each student. Students in this course will learn proper blocking and striking techniques to maximize their endurance and concentration. Girls’ Field Hockey
Chelsea Field Hockey
If you are looking to have fun playing a team sport, try field hockey! Field hockey is a game involving a team of 11 girls using a rounded stick to move a ball down a field, or in this case, the gym. The game is fast becoming a popular sport played in the Midwest, and Chelsea has recreational teams for 3rd through 6th grades in the spring and fall, as well as teams at Beach Middle School and Chelsea High School through the Chelsea Field Hockey Club. Have fun learning the fundamentals of field hockey in this class geared toward beginner players with no experience or limited experience. Sticks will be loaned out to participants who do not have a stick.

This program specializes in increasing stamina, agility and coordination of both the traditional art and modern sport of Taekwondo. This age-specific program creates a safe environment for youth to explore their physical capabilities and enhance their athletic performance. Incorporating team building and respectful sportsmanlike conduct creates a strong foundation for a healthy future both physically and emotionally.

PLEASE NOTE: Chelsea School District is no longer offering GED test or test preparation services.
Changes to GED Credentialing in Michigan
Beginning March 16, 2015, Michigan’s Workforce Development Agency (WDA) is partnering with the GED Testing Service for fulfillment of requests for GED transcripts and certificates.
After March 14, 2015 Michigan GED test takers who have earned a GED credential and want to order duplicate copies of transcripts and official Michigan GED certificates, please contact GED Testing Service online at http://www.gedtestingservice.com/testers/gedrequest-a-transcript or by telephone at 888-906-4031.
A $15.00 fee will be charged by GED Testing Service to process these requests.
It MAY be possible to obtain a non-official record if students can provide an accurate GED completion date.
