Pool and Swim Lessons

• All public open and lap swims are $3.00 per person
• Only cash or check is accepted
• Punch cards are available at the Community Education office and are $50 for 20 visits
• The pool will be closed when the Chelsea School District is closed for holidays or inclement weather.  There will be no open/lap swims during home CHS, BMS, or CAC events.
   

• Preschool/toddler swim is available in the shallow pool during mid-day lap swim hours for parents and their child.  There is no instruction provided.  Parent will pay the $3 fee and child swims for free.
• Water walking is a low-impact cardio exercise.  It is gentler on your bones and joints, and a great activity for those with arthritis, osteoporosis, or fibromyalgia.  Float belts are provided or bring your own.

The following information is offered to answer any questions you may have regarding lesson skills or class placement. Please keep in mind that classes may be repeated multiple times to ensure the mastering of skills.

Polliwog (Parent/Tot): This will be the first class for ages 1 – 4. Parents will work one-on-one with their child encouraging them to become comfortable in the water through songs and skills. Children in diapers must wear swim diapers.

Mudpuppy: This class is for those children who have completed the Polliwog class or have had previous swim experience and are comfortable in the water without a parent. The focus of the Mudpuppy class is on basic skills as well as gaining more strength and confidence in the water. During the first lesson, children will be tested and placed in the group that matches their skill level.

Turtle: This class is to teach stroke development. Children must pass Mudpuppy, be 5 years or older and be able to float and swim on their own.

Dolphin: This class is for all children ages 5 and older who have passed Turtle and are ready to work on advanced stroke development and endurance.
